Default i would like to know b4 i buy factions

Hi all,

I missed the beta weekend of factions, so i would like to know from someone who tested factions.

Excuse my english, i do my best.

I would like to know about the pvp part.

1- how many players in each team for those "large-scale" battles?
2- More than 2 teams in those "large-scale" battles?
3- I think i read something about a kind of pvp/pve zone, does that exist?
4- are "large-scale" battles random or arranged?

I wish i could find a web where i could read what exactly are those new type os missions. All i read is not specific.

Thx in advance for ur help.

It's like this, before you enter the "large-scale" (12vs12) battle, you all come together in an outpost where you can make a team of 4 people. When you have 4 people you press the Enter Mission button and you will be added to 2 other random teams from your Faction (Kurzick or Luxon).
There are only 2 teams in 12vs12 battles, the Luxons and Kurzicks.

so 12v12 is the largest?

this is disappointing. Personally i would not call "large" a 12v12 match.

The PvE/PvP zones you heard about are probably the competitive missions. Missions in the PvE part of the game that pit you against a human enemy team in a story, objective based mission, in random 8 man teams.

more than 2 teams in those competitive missions?

If not, i get a bad feling, like it is selling the same thing again. I dont think it would take me too long to get bored of the 12v12, just like the 8v8. I was hoping for a bigger change. Especialy when i read "large-scale battles".

Thx for ur answers.

Large scale battles turn into mindless zergs 99.9% of the time. Look at Alterac valley in WoW for example. It is nothing but a mindless zerg of people who run around following a tug of war mentallity. Game takes 8 hours to finish.

it is true that if you can get 40 people togather you can finish it in 1 hour and it is very fun, but thats assuming the other side is a random PUG.

TRust me, the fewer people there are, the more fun and organised it is. Also it makes you feel more important. In a 40 vs 40 match im just a plate wearer who charges at the zerg and dies in 10 sec maximum when facing a semi organised zerg.

On the other hand, in a 10 vs 10 Warsong Gulch, (WoW again) i can go on and on and strike fear in the hearts of the enemy.

I for one am on nubas train of thought and would love to have actual pvpve zones, or just 8v8v8v8 etc. Or just a constant instance where people go in alone, and meet up inside. Yes, it may turn out like hunter says but it would be a welcome change of pace. (even though everyone would take lightning orb)

the instance is designed to prevent just that.

i was not thinking in wow type of pvp. I also played wow and quit fast, did not like that game at all. But there are ways to have people a lot of people fighting without the zerg thing u mentioned. For expample i played knight online and there were wars with 250 players in each team wich lasted 1 hour.

As another ona said u could also let 3 or 4 team in the same fight, wich would give a different feeling. But 12v12 seems to me kind of like the 8v8 matches we already have, wich is why i said i feel like buying the same game again.

I hope that competitive mission someone explaiined (with pvp and pve together) makes me feel like i am getting a different type of game.

again, excuse my english if i make mistakes.

12v12 is VERY different from 8v8. 12v12 is a capture the flag type of game, where your party has to try to take control of points, rather than the kill the opposite team game with 8v8.

well, actually, maybe you're right. My experience with large battles is fairly limited. But anyway, surely it would be fun to try and find a few teammates (unless everyone just spawn inside a base - which would be too good for gankers, imo). Sure, you can have your instances, but for people like me theres nothing quite so tense and fun as running around big maps and looking for a mini battle to help out in.

The zerg is an example of the mob mentality in people. Its human nature and cannot be prevented. You put people in large groups and the group becomes something else.

Keeping it small gives it a challenge and makes you feel like you are acually doing something instead of the "mob" did it.
